Learning in the real world

In March 2017, we visited Manley Park Primary School for the first time to deliver a creative music-making day for the whole school. Over six workshops, each class took part in an interactive concert with a Manchester Camerata trio of flute, french horn and cello, and composed one of the pieces that featured in the concert, live!
Music Coordinator Mr Evans told us that:
“Our children had a truly wonderful day. It is thrilling to see and hear children talking excitedly about ‘that orchestra’ who visited us yesterday. You made a huge impression. Staff feedback has also been extremely positive and leading I hope towards an appetite for more music in school… I feel music is vital to primary education and yesterday enhanced that argument strongly and powerfully.”
