Alzheimer’s Memory Cafes
Throughout the summer, composer Kate Pearson and Camerata Musicians Amina Cunningham and Barbara Grunthal have been delivering sessions at ‘Memory Cafes’ run by the Alzheimer’s Society in the Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale areas, funded by Morrisons Foundation. We visited some care homes in the area too and wrote some great songs. We’re very much looking forward to going back in January to perform the songs with the groups again, and to record their performances to go on CDs for the groups to keep.... Read More

Music in Mind Rochdale
Between November 2016 and August 2017, we delivered Music in Mind music therapy sessions to residents in two care homes – Belvoir and Millfield – and two community centres – Castlemere and The Lighthouse Project – in a project funded by the Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group. We met some great friends along the way, many of whom came along from the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Cafés. We are hoping to be back again in the Rochdale area in the near future.... Read More

Music in Mind at Acacia Lodge Care Home
Between September 2017 and February 2018, we are trialling a new approach to our Music in Mind project at Acacia Lodge Care Home. The home’s Activities Coordinator took part in Music in Mind previously and has now began delivering her own music sessions at the care home, but is looking for extra support from Camerata musicians with regards to the musical techniques that will provide the best outcomes for the residents.
