Tales of Eden takes off in Cumbria

The BFG comes to the North West
Throughout January and February, Camerata in the Community are delivering a project based on the story of Roald Dahl’s BFG in partnership with North West Midlands Music Education Hub. The project began with two teacher training sessions, giving teachers guidance with regards to creating original words and lyrics with their class on their unique scene from the book. Over 20 primary schools are involved in the project and will receive a half day workshop between January and February to create the melodies, lyrics and accompaniment of a short song based on their BFG scene. Vikings at Webster Primary School
Earlier in November, Camerata in the Community spent a week with Year 5 at Webster Primary School creating a musical about Vikings. The pupils at Webster created all the song lyrics and melodies themselves, along with the help of Camerata composer Richard Taylor, dramatist Anna Jewitt and ‘cellist Graham Morris. The story focused on Viking mythology and underlined that being a hero was about brains and knowledge as well as power and physical strength.
