We Are Withernsea!
Residents of Withnersea in the East Riding of Yorkshire performed their own original piece ‘We Are Withernsea’, composed with composer Richard Taylor, Camerata musicians Janet Fulton and Lynne Racz, and Remarkable Arts musician Mark Howley, to the sell out concert ‘Tea With Manchester Camerata’ on 18th October. Chetham’s School of Music Listening Project
Throughout the academic year we are delivering a project with Chetham’s School of Music which aims to support GCSE music pupils to improve their ‘listening’ skills and gain insights into new aspects of listening. The first stage of the project began in September; six Camerata musicians and six Chetham’s pupils joined together to plan a series of workshops for other high schools based on the topic of listening. Nelson Mandela Day
In July, Camerata composer Richard Taylor and clarinettist Hannah McCabe visited Ladybridge Primary School in Stockport to celebrate Nelson Mandela Day. Throughout the day, each class wrote part of a new song, each focusing on a topic for which Nelson Mandela fought during his lifetime. These included subjects of racism and segregation and how the issues are relevant to the pupils’ own lives today.
