    Our four schools from Cheshire are busy rehearsing their original musical ‘Safer Together’ with Manchester Camerata ready for their performance on 5th June at the Brindley Theatre in Runcorn. Expect songs on topics ranging from anti-social behaviour to dog doo-doo disasters, with a serious message of how to make changes in your day to day life to be as safe as possible for yourself and the people around you.     Elgar’s Enigma Variations in Colne

    Last week the Camerata in the Community team visited four schools in Colne, Lancashire marking the start of this year’s project with Lancashire Music Hub. The theme of the project this year is Elgar’s Enigma Variations. Each school has picked a variation to take inspiration from, and are now in the process of creating their own Variation based on the same themes Elgar used and extending them to make the pieces personal and relevant to them.     George’s Journey

    In early May four primary schools in Wigan worked with musicians from Manchester Camerata and the Canal and River Trust in a joint song writing and history project celebrating ‘George’s Journey’. George,one of the last remaining wooden horse-drawn ‘short’ boats from the Leeds and Liverpool canal, is once again travelling along the Leeds & Liverpool Canalthanks to Lottery funding, retracing journeys she would have taken during her working life.
